How to use this worksheet
Keep each list focused
Use five to eight words that belong to the same lesson, story or spelling pattern. A focused list makes it easier to notice what was learned and which word still needs direct teaching.
Read before tracing
Ask the child to say each word and use it orally before picking up a pencil. Tracing should reinforce a word that has meaning, not become a way to copy an unfamiliar string of letters.
Finish with one independent attempt
After the dotted row, cover the model and ask for the word once on a blank line or separate paper. That quick recall check is more informative than adding several extra tracing rows.
